A New Era Begins for the Bandits!
In an exciting development for the Cab Direct Championship, the Berwick Bandits have finalized their roster for the 2026 season by bringing on board British newcomer Reid Battye.
At just 24 years old, Reid has made quite an impression in Australia, where he recently showcased his talent by amassing an impressive total of 19 points throughout four rounds of the national championship series. This achievement has certainly placed him on the radar and earned him a spot on the Bandits team.
Battye will join the squad with a four-point average and is set to start the championship campaign in a reserve position, working alongside teammate Jack Smith.
Team manager Stewart Dickson shared his enthusiasm, stating, "Out of the four riders we evaluated, Reid distinguished himself with remarkable performances in Australia, positioning himself as our top choice. While he may be relatively young regarding speedway experience and hasn't participated in a team sport before, he brings substantial racing experience from various other disciplines.
I genuinely believe that, together with club owner Jamie Courtney and co-promoters Steve Dews and Sarah Bulman, we have assembled a team poised to compete vigorously across all three fronts in 2026—a team that our supporters will rally behind."
